It’s a topic of conversation that I’m asked about the most.
The conversation goes like this: “Wow! Your husband is a musician? That’s awesome! Is that his REAL, full time job? Who does he play with? What was his life like growing up with a famous person? Have you met famous people? How fun is it to be on the road with him? How do handle it when he’s gone? ” and so on and so on and blah, blah, blah.
So I thought it might be interesting to write about my very unglamorous, but sometimes glamorous, sometimes fun, but often boring, life as a musicians wife. I live with a lot of assumptions about who we are (ask any of our close friends and family, we are just plain ole’ boring us.)
I can pretty much some up this crazy life with a Journey song. You guys know the one…
They say that the road
Ain’t no place to start a family
Right down the line
It’s been you and me
And lovin’ a music man
Ain’t always what it’s s’posed to be
Oh girl, you stand by me
I’m forever yours
Faithfully
I know….sooooo sappy!
It can be a tough life but we make it work! For 23 years now. Faithfully.
So what do you want to know? Send me some questions and I’ll try to answer them in my “ML as a MW” posts. (It’s so dang hard to make an acronym work for this page!)

Good morning!
Thank you for sharing your life with us on your blog. Here’s my question:
I have been in awe of musicians and singers my whole life, maybe because I don’t have any talent! Listening to music has and still is my sanctuary, my peace. Do you ever stop in the middle of your life and look at the musicians in your life and think, “OMG!”? I remember once reading an interview with Linda McCartney and she said (paraphrased): “He’s just a man. He goes to the bathroom just like the rest of us!”
Thanks again and have a great day!!!
Hi Diane! Great question. I have to be honest, I’m with Linda McCartney…when you’re living with someone day in and day out there is definitely less awe and more of the “can you pick the kids up today and empty the dishwasher and take out the garbage” kind of thing. lol. BUT I definitely have little moments when I’m at a show where I am blown away by the talent of my amazing family of singers. It is definitely not lost on me. And of course, I am my husbands biggest fan ever.
Thanks, Sooz! Looking forward to more of your blog posts!
So, I really can’t ever recall meeting any famous people!!! Well, if you count a few local musicians here in Memphis where I live (not really famous except in our neck of the woods). My mother was a great fan of your family’s music. I lost her in 2012 from cancer. I guess my question to you is have you ever woke up and asked yourself “How did I get here… Married to a very talented singer/musician and into a very famous family of singers and musicians as well?” And, as a mom of three? Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings!!!! 😀 Hope this is not too much of a weird question!!!!
Hi Tammy. First off I’m sorry about your Mom. I lost my Mom in 2013 from cancer as well. Horrible club to be in. To answer your question, I don’t ever wake up and wonder how I got here. I guess if you knew how dorky my husband is and how absolutely normal and nuts our family is you would understand why I never look at my life this way. And the 3 kids, well they are my biggest blessing in this life and a dream of mine to have a big family since I was a little girl. Thanks for dropping by my little blog! xo -Sooz
Thank you for replying. I look forward to your future blogs. It is so obvious how much you love your family!!! I wanted to be a mom, but I guess God had other plans. But, I love my nieces and nephews more than life. I can only imagine what loving your own children could be like!!!
