Like many of you I deal with anxiety and panic disorder. Past trauma has definitely had an impact on me. It can feel extremely scary and at times debilitating to go through an anxiety attack. They can last mere moments or sometimes can last for days.
My anxiety attacks started after my Mom passed from stomach cancer. I was also overwhelmed with a full time job, taking care of my three kids and Matt had been consistently on the road touring, sometimes for months at a time so I was alone holding down the fort by myself a lot.
It was a recipe for anxiety disaster.
Long story short, it was clear to me that I needed to make changes in my life. Ignoring and running away from my mental health was not really an option. It was time to really focus on myself, my well being and find a way to manage my anxiety disorder.
The last 2 years I’ve worked really hard to find things that can help me work through these frightening moments. I have shared a little bit about my own anxiety on my Instagram feed and also shared here and there some of the tools in my mental health toolbox.
Of course there is not a one size fixes all when it comes to mental health but for me these are a few of the tools and lifestyle changes that help me push through these scary moments:
•Being in nature
•Talking to someone
•Exercise
•Healthy eating
•Meditation
•Grounding
•Focused Breathing
•Essential Oils
Again, there is not a one size fix all when it comes to your mental health but I hope that if you are struggling you will reach out to a professional or a loved one and ask for help.
I feel like this past year has been huge for normalizing mental health and acknowledging it as something that should be taken more seriously.
Sending you love and peace wherever you are on your journey.
